When most people think about a beautiful, scenic hike, they usually don't think of cemeteries. But these places of rest are often beautifully designed, resembling a garden and a place of refuge more than anything. That goes double for one historic cemetery in NJ, which is the permanent resting place of some of the most famous residents in the Garden State's history. Princeton Cemetery, run by the Nassau Presbyterian Church, is a stunning monument to America's early years and the men who made it possible. One section, known as "President's Row", is home to both one of the most famous Presidents to come from New Jersey - and the answer to many trivia questions - but also to one of the most infamous villains of the country's early days. We think it's an amazing hike, and well worth taking on your next trip to Princeton.
Like a peaceful haven and memorial to those who have come and gone, Princeton Cemetery is a unique destination in the town of the same name.
The graveyard is constantly being updated with new additions, and the entire thing is very well-maintained as fits a historic cemetery.
But along all the standard and modern graves, you'll notice that this cemetery has some unique architecture and some very famous names.
Probably the most famous is Grover Cleveland - the New Jersey-born President who currently holds the distinction of being the only President to serve two non-consecutive terms as of 2023.
More infamous on President's Row is Aaron Burr - Thomas' Jefferson's rival turned Vice President who famously shot Alexander Hamilton in a duel.
The old-fashioned design of many of the headstones here makes the place feel more like an art installation, and the cemetery welcomes respectful visitors.
Take a look around - you might be surprised by how many names from American history you recognize.
