They've got their own day - support your state on Small Business Saturday at any of these unique neighborhood shops.
1. Randy Now's Man Cave - 134 Farnsworth Avenue, Bordentown
This record store and consignment shop features nostalgic gifts, rare vintage treasures and an incredible selection of sodas from around the world. You really never know what wonders you'll find. Saturday's hours are noon - 8 p.m. and they'll be hosting a concert after closing.
2. Unshredded Nostalgia - 323 South Main Street, Barnegat
This is anything but an average antique shop - it's more like a museum where you can buy what you love. You'll find pieces dating back to the 17th century, nearly 2,000 historic documents and publications, themed areas and even a New Jersey room. The vintage magazines and movie posters make great gifts. Saturday's hours are 10 a.m. - 5 p.m..
3. Rock Paper Scissors - 15 Bloomfield Avenue, Montclair *Permanently Closed
This quaint craft shop offers a sizable selection of fabric along with new and vintage supplies for sewing, embroidery, paper crafts and jewelry making. They offer crafting classes for all ages and a studio - $10 gets you two hours in the workshop and use of their machines. Saturday's hours are 10 a.m. - 6 p.m..
4. Cape May Peanut Butter Co. - 516 Carpenter Lane, Cape May
A peanut butter lover's paradise, this shop has almost every kind of peanut butter treat imaginable. Try peanut butter non-pareils, peanut butter cup cocoa, peanut butter marshmallow spread and so much more. They also offer jellies, jams, candies, coffee, snacks and other food items that pair well with PB. The gift sets and dog treats are great options for the holidays. Saturday's hours are 9:30 a.m. - 8 p.m..
5. Merry-Go-Round Gift Shop - 19 State Street, Hamburg
Set in a historic Victorian home, this shop offers a nice mix of vintage and new gifts. There are six rooms packed with treasures to explore, a carriage house and cafe. Enjoy a light lunch from 11 - 3 or tea and dessert between 3 - 4. Saturday's hours are 10 a.m. - 6 p.m..
6. Pure Energy Cycling & Java House - 99 South Main Street, Lambertville
Buy a quality custom bike or bike-related gifts for your favorite cyclists. They've got all sorts of gear for guys and gals on the go, served with a side of joe. You can also rent bikes and ride along the nearby D & R Canal. Saturday's hours are 10 a.m. - 5 p.m..
7. The English Gardener Gift Shop - 123 Kings Highway East, Haddonfield
A bit of the UK in NJ, this shop is bloody brilliant. You'll find authentic British sweets, treats, groceries and themed gifts along with English soaps and rugby jerseys. The gift shop won third place in a nationwide Best of Britain contest held by The Daily & Sunday Telegraph, a London newspaper. It was also ranked as the 8th best British gift shop in the world. Saturday's hours are 10 a.m. - 8 p.m..
8. The Farmhouse Store - 221 East Broad Street,
Westfield + 43 Hulfish Street, Princeton
This charming home goods store has won awards for its selection of furniture and decor and it carries a great mix of gift items. They also offer the Magnolia Homes line, created by the stars of fixer upper on HGTV. Saturday's hours are 10 a.m. - 6 p.m..
9. Cheap Maggie's - 216 Washington Street, Hoboken
Head here to score big discounts on brand names. Score designer goods at incredible prices, even if you have to do a little digging. You never know what you'll find - tees for under $10 and Juicy bags for under $50. Saturday's hours are 10 a.m. - 8 pm..
10. Jay & Silent Bob's Secret Stash - 35 Broad Street, Red Bank
The famed Jersey Shore comic book store is a must-visit. Owned by actor/comedian Kevin Smith, it offers a massive collection of comics and movie memorabilia on display. Visitors come from all over the world to shop and this as-seen-on-tv icon. Saturdays hours are 11 a.m. - 6 p.m..
