There are many ways to travel from New Jersey to another state - after all, we have three states on our border! You can drive, you can take a train or bus, or you can even take a ferry! But I was pleasantly surprised to find there's a place where you can easily walk into another state - and you can do it in style on the most unique bridge in New Jersey. Lambertville is one of New Jersey's most beautiful small towns, a tourism destination for gourmets and railroad buffs, and it's only feet away from the Pennsylvania town of New Hope - with the two being joined by the New Hope-Lambertville Bridge, a span of less than a thousand feet that can be driven or walked. The one thing both groups have in common? They'll be treated to a view that feels like it came out of classic Americana - so pretty it might as well be a painting.
The New Hope Lambertville Bridge is a popular commuter route - but seeing it on foot is a very different experience.
The easily walkable route, which takes less than ten minutes, offers some stunning views of the Delaware River.
Depending on the time of year, it might be the most beautiful spot along the river. Imagine what this landscape will look like snow-capped soon!
The beauty doesn't stop when you get off the bridge and cross into a new state either -the surrounding towns are fascinating.
Both towns are rail hubs, with popular recreational railroads in the area. Crossing the bridge is a must-visit for any railroad buff.
The area of Pennsylvania you're crossing into is full of charming, rural attractions as well. It's a great day trip!
The best part of extending your stay? You get to see the bridge illuminated at night - one of the most beautiful sights n the entire Garden State.
