New Hampshire nature is a powerful thing. It's only been 50 years since an elegant country home stood in Chesterfield, but today nature has reclaimed the abandoned New Hampshire spot, and the results are simply breathtaking.
Madame Sherri's forest in Chesterfield is a 513-acre property full of beautiful New Hampshire wilderness. But the real treat - the ruins of a home - are just 100 feet from the road. The grand home was built in the 1920s, and was destroyed by fire in 1962. However, the foundation, chimneys, and amazing grand staircase still stand.
Some say that the property is haunted by Madame Antoinette Sherri, an eccentric costume designer known for her lavish parties.
Other say that the property is just an example of how beautiful New Hampshire's nature is - even when it is reclaiming abandoned structures.
