New Hampshire's capital city may not be the first place you think of in winter, but we've got quite a lot to offer in all seasons. Community events abound here, both large and small. In late January, just steps outside where lawmakers are crafting legislation, crafters of a different kind will be creating works of art in the form of ice carvings on the State House lawn as part of Concord NH Winter Fest.
From Saturday, January 27th, 2024 to Sunday, January 28th, 2024, Concord NH Winter Fest will be taking place downtown for the sixth year in a row.
Intown Concord and The Hotel Concord are presenting the event free to attendees (vendors require registration).
The main attraction of Concord NH Winter Fest is the ice carving demonstrations that take place on the State House lawn.
Starting with a simply chunk of ice, these masterful artists use only their imagine to create beautiful works of art.
Other activities include an outdoor curling rink where you can try your hand at this winter sport that dates back to the 16th century.
For a little warm up from the cold, Wine on Main will have free wine tastings in the afternoons.
In addition to weather that will be cold enough for the ice carvings, hopefully the skies will be clear enough for some telescope viewing with the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center.
As a resident of Concord, it's been a weird winter here so far, so hopefully it will be cold enough for ice carving when the event takes place! For more information and updates or to register for the ice carving competition, visit Intown Concord.
