There's something about hot air balloons that defies imagination – delicate structures that light up with flame and blow about on the breeze. Whether you find that enchanting or terrifying, you can't argue that they're pretty darn gorgeous to look at – especially against the background of stunning Granite State scenery. If you'd like to see this for yourself, there's a festival you can't miss coming up this summer.
The Suncook Valley Rotary Hot Air Balloon Rally is a beloved tradition in the town of Pittsfield – this year marks the 37th festival! The event supports the Rotary Club's community service efforts throughout the region, so by attending you're supporting a great cause. This year's festival runs August 3-5, 2018.
The event, which runs for three days, is based around two daily balloon liftoffs (at 5:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.). It also includes plenty of other fun events in between, including helicopter rides, crafters, dog demonstrations, and more.
The sight of the balloons dotting the sky is absolutely magical, and like nothing you've seen before. It's worth getting up early to see them at dawn!
At night, the balloons are illuminated – and what a sight it is.
Beyond balloons, the festival has plenty to offer. There's also a fairground with rides and games that'll keep your whole family occupied for hours.
There are plenty of food options to tide you over in between games and rides.
This year the festival is adding a very cool attraction – a balloon that kids of all ages can crawl inside.
The site of these massive balloons is sure to entrance you – this is an event you definitely don't want to miss.
37th Annual Suncook Valley Rotary Hot Air Balloon Rally will run August 3-5, 2018, at Drake Field in Pittsfield, NH. To learn more and keep an eye out for the full schedule of events, visit the rally's website or Facebook page.
