No matter how happy we are each day, there's always something fun about imagining a different world. That's why it's so easy to get lost in a daydream when we should be doing something else. We love these moments throughout the day, but what we really appreciate is the opportunity to escape into a fantasy world once a year at one very special fairy and hobbit house festival in New Hampshire.
Bedrock Gardens in Lee is a beautiful place to spend the day under any circumstances, but when they're hosting a special event things get even more magical, especially the annual Fairy and Hobbit House Festival.
The 37-acre garden was once a farm and private garden, but today it's transitioning into a public space with plants, flowers, open space and art.
Visitors are welcome to explore when they're open, but plan your visit around one of their festivals and you're in for a treat, especially when it's the annual fairy & hobbit house festival.
When the Fairy & Hobbit House Festival Fundraiser is held, you don't want to miss it. The day is great for kids and for imaginative adults who are truly just kids at heart.
Visitors are invited to visit the two Gnome Depots, where there are natural materials for building unique homes for the local fairies.
These homes are truly impressive. If building isn't your thing, simply come to walk around as the homes are being created. You'll be amazed by the talent and creativity on display with each house.
Adults are welcome to help and often ensure that these homes are fit for Kings and Queens.
In addition to building or visiting fairy houses, Bedrock Gardens will play host to a special guest. And the resident bee keeper will also be there, introducing visitors to the world of bees.
And, best of all, Mother Nature and other Fairy Godmothers will be in the garden, reading stories to the children and helping to create an even more special environment for imaginations and daydreaming.
In 2024, the Fairy and Hobbit House Festival will take place October 12-14. It's Bedrock Gardens' biggest fundraiser of the year and is one of the best festivals in New Hampshire. You can learn more about Bedrock Gardens and get all the information you'll need about this year's festival, including dates and times, by visiting the official Bedrock Gardens website or following the Bedrock Gardens on Facebook. Visit the Fairy & Hobbit House Festival page on the Bedrock Gardens website to plan for a fun weekend of fairies. Be sure to check for any updates, such as a change in how tickets may be purchased, now online in advance only, while in prior years tickets were available at the kiosk. You'll also need to bring your own food. (Need a lunch box? Shop the selection at Backcountry).
Another great way to escape for a little while is to spend some time with animals. Of course we have a great place for you to do it! And it's a spot not many people even know about, a charming farm sanctuary right here in New Hampshire.
