If you're the type of person who loves discovering old ghost towns and abandoned places, then Nevada is the state for you. However, there are almost too many ghost towns in Nevada to list, and many of them aren't super well-known. The Pine Grove Ghost town is one of those places that mostly goes unnoticed - though folks who are passionate about ghost towns most certainly know its name. People seem to have totally forgotten that this ghost town even exists, but the buildings still stand as silent reminders of the town that it once was. Take a look at the remains of what used to be a bustling Nevada town:

Located in the western portion of the state near Hawthorne, Nevada, are the creepy remnants of an old mining town.

The name of the town was Pine Grove, and although many of our state's ghost towns are well-known by Nevadans; this is not one of them.

The town was originally formed with the discovery of the Pine Grove Mine in 1866.

It definitely resembled the typical 19th century Nevada mining town. It's hard to believe now, but at one point it was home to around 600 people and contained a post office, saloons, shops, offices, and a school.

Mining officially came to a halt in 1918.

By the 1930s, the town was completely vacated making it a true ghost town. Only a few of the original structures are still standing.

It's hard to recognize what these old, dilapidated buildings once were.

They merely exist as empty shells. However, there is one building that most people agree served as the cookhouse and its walls are covered in old newspapers dating back to the 1930s.

While some of the structures look like they'll blow over with a strong gust of wind, some of the buildings are in remarkable shape considering they are over a century old. .

You can even explore inside them. Just keep in mind to use caution whenever entering abandoned buildings

There are a few reminders scattered around of the town's early mining days.

These massive pieces of machinery helped to produce over $5 million in ore for the town, but were long ago left to wither in the desert conditions.

The town's cemetery is home to a handful of marked and unmarked graves.

The grave above belongs to Alice Marie Robinson who died at only 15 years old.

Today, Pine Grove is just a small glimmer of the booming town that it once was.

However, the ghost town is still home to plenty of gems that make a visit here an interesting adventure that you'll never forget. Pine Grove is located just south of Yerington. To get there, drive 11 miles south on State Route 208 before turning onto a well-maintained but unmarked road. You'll then turn right on Pine Grove Mine Road and continue driving for approximately four miles before coming upon the town.
