One's wedding should be a truly special event and one to remember forever. Given the multitude of wedding chapels in Nevada—especially in Las Vegas—making one's wedding as unique as possible is a popular goal. Whether you wish to be married in castle, at a drive-thru, at a glitzy chapel, or somewhere a bit more—um, bizarre, Nevada is the place to get hitched. Take a look at these 11 somewhat odd Nevada chapels/wedding locales around the Silver State.
1. Denny's at Fremont, Las Vegas
Yes, you read that right. Where else but in the wedding capital of the world can you get married (and presumably have a free meal if it's your birthday) than at the small chapel inside of a Denny's in downtown Las Vegas?
2. Silver Queen Wedding Chapel, Virginia City
If you want odd Nevada chapels, this is the place for you! This quaint chapel resembles many of the other, older hotel chapels in the area with one small exception: the Silver Queen is haunted. A few extra ghostly guests would, indeed, make for an odd, yet unique, wedding.
3. The Grove at South Creek, Reno
This large angular gazebo at Reno's newest event venue combines spectacular mountain views with contemporary architecture and industrial chic for a wedding you will never forget. The reception hall boasts soaring peaked ceilings and tons of windows along with innovative menu selections.
4. Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel, Las Vegas
Nothing screams Las Vegas like Elvis (well, maybe shrimp cocktails.) Regardless, you can get married in the Doo Wop Diner (pictured) or on a set reminiscent of the film Blue Hawaii in this Elvis-themed chapel. The bride and groom will always remember getting hitched by the King himself (or a reasonable facsimile thereof.)
5. Valley of Fire, Overton
The red Aztec sandstone backdrop of the Valley of Fire is a truly unique and spectacular place to tie the knot.
6. Shotgun Wedding Chapel at the Gun Store, Las Vegas
Giving a whole new meaning to the term "shotgun wedding," the Gun Store's chapel is the perfect place for firearm enthusiasts to say "I do" before shooting at the range.
7. On Lake Tahoe, Zephyr Cove
What could be more romantic than exchanging vows on beautiful Lake Tahoe with its spectacular views of the Sierra Nevada Mountains? Both the Safari Rose and Bleu Wave offer wedding packages for that special day. Just make sure you have enough Dramamine for everyone.
8. Lake Mead Cruise Weddings, Boulder City
The top deck of the Desert Princess offers a beautiful wedding venue the bride, groom, wedding party, and guests will never forget.
9. Chapel in the Clouds, Las Vegas
In addition to the two stunning indoor wedding chapels, the Stratosphere offers the option of getting married on level 112 of the 1,149-foot high tower, the tallest freestanding observation tower in the entire U.S. Just don't look down.
10. Winter's Creek Lodge, Reno
This stunning mountain lodge offers spectacular views of Washoe Valley and Mount Rose from its unique stone deck altar to provide a truly one-of-a-kind wedding. Finish the magnificent day with a reception in one of many different areas: a sleek open space with walls of windows, an intimate lounge with fireplace, or an outside deck complete with fire pit.
11. Treasure Island Wedding Chapel, Las Vegas
In addition to the beautiful, more traditional wedding chapel located inside of Treasure Island, the lucky bride and groom can also be married aboard the pirate ship in Sirens Cove in front of the hotel.
One's wedding day should be special, indeed. With these unique and odd Nevada chapels and wedding venues, the "special" factor is increased significantly. Have you been to any of these matrimonial locales? Or, perhaps, you know of other odd Nevada chapels I inadvertently forgot. Please share your thoughts and comments below.
