Here in Nevada, we're no stranger to things that are strange. In fact, we revel in weirdness! From neon museums to bizarre roadside monuments, there's simply no shortage of unique attractions waiting to be discovered by you. In fact, one of the strangest roadside attractions can be found way out near Hiko on the side of the Extraterrestrial Highway. The Alien Research Center sounds like it'd be a top-secret, closed-off destination, but don't worry. It's completely open to the public and it's definitely worth seeing for yourself.
It's pretty much guaranteed that you'll come across some strange sights while driving down the Extraterrestrial Highway, but one of the strangest is the Alien Research Center near Hiko.
Situated near the beginning of the highway, the Alien Research Center is a popular stop for E.T. enthusiasts on the way to Area 51. Although its name implies that you might be walking in on an alien dissection of some sort, the Alien Research Center is actually a gift shop that's filled with alien-themed items.
There's no way you'll miss the gift store's iconic shed-like building, complete with a giant silver alien greeting you by the front door. We can't think of a better place to act as a gateway to the Extraterrestrial Highway's bizarre treasures!
Once inside, you'll find yourself surrounded by all sorts of alien items. From t-shirts and hats to mugs and magnets, you won't be able to resist purchasing yourself a weird souvenir as a reminder of your visit.
While there may not be any official research taking place at this wacky pitstop, you'll still find mass amounts of information on aliens and the famous Area 51. Check out the center's vast selection of books and reading materials, or strike up a conversation with one of the store's alien experts!
Alien-themed objects are of course in abundance but you'll also find items pertaining to popular Science Fiction culture, including Star Wars, Star Trek, and X-Files branded items.
There's no better way to start your trip on Nevada's famous Extraterrestrial Highway than with a stop at the Alien Research Center. Pick up a unique souvenir and be sure to snap a few photos. This place is well-worth the visit during your alien-themed adventure.
