Boasting a tiny population of just 963, the town of Panaca is nothing but a blip on the map to most. However, this charming little community has some treasures of its own that are definitely worth exploring.
Panaca is a farming community located approximately 15 miles north of Caliente. This historic place is the quintessential small Nevada town. It's home to a few schools and some historic buildings from long ago. Time seems to move slower here, especially during summer.
However, the town just happens to be home to one of the state's most gorgeous and delightful warm springs. Aptly referred to as Panaca Warm Spring, the spring is an enchanting oasis that is simply too beautiful to resist.
You'll find the spring located a mile north of town. Locals have been using the small swimming area for generations and during the summertime you'll often seen people tubing, soaking, or picnicking around the pool.
What makes Panaca Warm Springs so notable is its crystal-clear quality. Boasting vibrant emerald-colored water, it's hard to believe this little spring exists amid the dry eastern Nevada desert. Event the spring's lush green surroundings are an extraordinary sight.
There's a reason it's called "Warm Spring". The water's temperature maintains a comfortable 85 degrees all year long. Unlike many of Nevada's hot springs that can exceed temperatures of 100 degrees, this spring is perfect for swimming in even during summer.
Panaca Warm Springs is as simple as it gets. You won't find any fancy amenities to this roughly Olympic sized swimming pool. However, it's the spring's simplicity that makes it so great. After all, there's not much you could possibly need...except possibly a Nevada sunset to top it all off.
