Well, folks, it's that time of the year again—a time for costumes, candy, and haunts. Haunted houses have become increasingly, well, more extreme, scary, gruesome, you name it. Whereas many people enjoy getting the *&@# scared out of them, others (like me) don't. If you are looking for a truly terrifying Halloween experience, Las Vegas' Freakling Brothers Trilogy of Terror should be atop your list. Read on to see why Nevada's most notorious haunted house is even scarier this year.

The Freakling Brothers Trilogy of Terror is, by far, the best haunted attraction in the entire state, and has been for 25 years.

These three haunted houses are the most terrifying in all of Nevada, among the top-ranked across the U.S., number four in the world. If you really want to get scared, this is the place to go.

Established in 1992, Duke Mollner and his son Daniel began the family tradition creating and running haunted houses out of their east Las Vegas home's garage.

By 2000, Freakling Brothers had six different attractions which they streamlined to three separate, unique, and haunted structures. Every few years, they demolish one of their scary attractions and a new one rises in its place to ensure that these geniuses remain on the cutting edge of horror. In 2010, the Gates of Hell was born. This creepy attraction has the distinction of being Nevada's only, R-rated, full-contact haunted house.

When not setting up and running the Freakling Brothers attractions, son JT Mollner is a Hollwood director who reminisces about his family's haunted house tradition that dates back to 1977.

Per the Freakling Brothers website, the Gates of Hell is marketed as "an experiment in serious, uncompromising, interactive horror."

In order to enter the Gates of Hell, visitors must sign a waiver since the actors are allowed (and highly encouraged) to ensure a truly interactive and terrifying experience (and they don't disappoint!) There's even a safe word if you get too freaked out.

Visitors to Castle Vampyre creep down the halls of a fortress filled with unspeakable horror.

There are vampires. Just sayin'.

The Coven of 13 is the newest of the haunted houses this year.

This attraction pushes the Freakling Brother's boundaries of complete and total immersion with a completely unique, trademarked, Hollywood-esque take on witches, warlocks, and black magic.

The makeup, props, and costumes are scary good.

I'm totally going to have nightmares tonight.

These are always particularly humorous especially if you have very expressive people in your group.

In October 2013, Freakling Brothers unveiled its Victim Experience for extreme thrill seekers.

Marketed as "the most realistic, traumatic, and horrifying test of psychological fortitude" in the US, this truly horrifying attraction boasts a 30 percent success rate and a 99 percent satisfaction score. This year's theme is Victim Experience IV: The Sepsis Doctrine.

"Victims" are given an on-site orientation and safety class before their experience.

Also included in the $300 admission price are last rites by Pope Satanus, immersion into the Sepsis Doctrine, a post-experience decompression and debriefing (with snacks and adult beverages, which will likely be more than welcome at this point), and a survivor t-shirt.
