I'm not a fan of cemeteries. After all, who is? Older cemeteries really give me an uneasy feeling, especially in the late night hours. I'm not exactly sure why this is. Maybe it's because many older cemeteries are in such a state of disrepair, or perhaps it could be because many older cemeteries are abandoned in the middle of nowhere. Oh, and some are even known to be haunted. Here are 8 older cemeteries in Nevada that leave me feeling a bit uneasy:

8. Goldfield Cemetery

Established in 1905, Goldfield Cemetery lies on a hill overlooking the town of Goldfield. Something that really makes this cemetery stand out from the rest is that it looks like it came straight out of a western movie. Also, there are many unnusual gravestones located throughout it. The photo above is only one example of the many unusual gravestones you'll stumble upon if you visit this cemetery.

7. Barren Cemetery

Back when Virginia City was thriving, Barren Cemetery was known as the most beautiful cemetery in the state. Today, not so much. All of the lush green grass is gone and the cemetery appears to have been forgotten.

6. Bullfrog-Rhyolite Cemetery

Bullfrog-Rhyolite Cemetery is located in Rhyolite ; Nevada's most popular ghost town. In this cemetery, there are many unmarked graves and the silence is quite deafening.

5. Goodsprings Cemetery

Goodsprings Cemetery is an old, continuing cemetery that covers only 1.33 acres. It's located southwest of Las Vegas and is the final resting place for many prominent people, including Norman Price, the man who built the Goodsprings School.

4. Boulder City Pet Cemetery

A pet cemetery? There's nothing disturbing about that! Well, unless of course you take into account the ghost cat that follows visitors around during the late night hours. My question is: Why would anyone want to visit a pet cemetery during the late night hours?

3. Maiden's Grave Cemetery

Maiden's Grave Cemetery is located on a bluff in Beowawe, overlooking the Humboldt River. The single gravesite that's all to itself in the first photo creates such a somber feeling.

2. Virginia City Cemetery

Virginia City Cemetery is a combination of several different cemeteries, including a Catholic Cemetery, a Mason Cemetery, a Firemen's Cemetery and a Protestant area. Basically, everyone had a special area in the cemetery to bury their loved ones. This cemetery is supposedly haunted.

1. Tonopah Cemetery

I don't know which is more disturbing. This 100+ year old graveyard, or the clown-themed motel that stands next door? Many of Tonopah's earliest residents are buried in this cemetery, including the victims of the 1911 mine fire. Some of these miners' ghosts have actually been spotted roaming the graveyard during the late night hours.
