If you love abandoned places, then the Silver State is the place to be. Our state is full of the creepy remains of old towns and buildings that were abandoned long ago to wither in the desert. A great example of this is the town of Warm Springs Nevada. It's located in the middle of nowhere, right along the Extraterrestrial Highway. It's completely surrounded by nothingness and Tonopah is at least 50 miles away. Just a few buildings in this town remain, but that's not the main attraction: hiding in this ghost town is an amazing abandoned hot spring. The turquoise-blue pool is like a little oasis in the middle of the desert. The next time you're traveling along State Route 375, you'll definitely want to stop for a soak (though nowadays you can't do so, bummer). Check it out:
About halfway in between Tonopah and Rachel is a small assembly of a few dilapidated buildings.
This was once the town of Warm Springs, Nevada, but it's long been abandoned - left in the desert to decay, along with all the memories this town once held.
The town was originally settled in 1866 and served as a stopover for stagecoaches.
Warm Springs was always small, but the population eventually dwindled until finally nobody was left. All that's left nowadays are a few empty buildings and some huts that were built over the hot springs that gave the town its name.
Warm Springs is a well-known spot for those that call themselves "urban explorers" because of all there is to discover here.
Check out the abandoned bar and cafe, which still contains a ton of furniture inside, including an old and torn-up billiards table. We're not entirely sure what exactly it is about old, abandoned, decaying places that are simply so intriguing ... but they really are!
The old buildings are cool, but the real attraction is yet to come.
As you're perusing the remnants of Warm Springs, you'll spot a small white hut at the foot of the mountains. This is the abandoned hot springs resort.
As you get closer, you'll see something truly unbelievable: a turquoise-blue hot springs pool in the middle of the desert.
Seeing this pool smack dab in the middle of nowhere is the craziest thing! It feels like something out of a movie, or maybe even a sci-fi novel. The color of the pool is a remarkably bright hue and it truly is eye-catching.
There used to be a sign welcoming folks to soak, but those days are past.
The pool is fed by a nearby hot spring and flows out through a drain, ensuring that the water stays nice and clean. It's a tempting sight for sure.
If you want, you can even take a little adventure by tracing the creek that feeds into the pool back to its source.
Eventually, you'll arrive at a small natural pool with boiling hot water. It travels all the way down the mountain in order to reach the pool. It's not exactly recommended to touch any of this water - it's extremely hot.
Nevada is the only state where this kind of place can exist.
Did you know about this awesome abandoned hot spring in Nevada? Our state is full of magical hot springs like this one - more than 300, actually, making it the state with the most hot springs (yep, more than even Wyoming).
