It's October (finally!), and that means one thing: Oktoberfest. Sure, you can wax on about fall foliage and pumpkins and all the sweet treats that have made their way into local cafes and coffee shops, but there's something about a warm soft pretzel and a solid pint of German beer that really put us in the mood. Nashville throws itself a killer Oktoberfest every year, and it's coming up real soon. If you haven't been, this is officially the year to fall in love with all the traditional German fun of Oktoberfest.
This year is the 40th Annual Nashville Oktoberfest, a true Middle Tennessee tradition that's been celebrated in Music City since 1980.
The event spans 10 city blocks, and boasts over a quarter of a million visitors on a yearly basis. Admission is free, so you'll have the chance to dress up and experience all the fun the festival has to offer. There's something for everyone!
You'll find German fare from all sorts of vendors and restaurants, as well as arts & crafts vendors with a whole lot of live German music on the side. There's an incredible parade that makes its way downtown, and even the 2nd largest 5K Race & Run in Tennessee is held during Oktoberfest.
Of course, it's the beer that really takes the proverbial cake. There will be 5 draft beer stations pouring both Paulaner and Hacker Pschorr brews. Three of these stations are located on the main festival grounds, with two exclusive locations located in the VIP zones.
Make sure you check out the main stage for live music and fun all day long. There's also the Annual 5K Bier Run, the quirky Dachshund Derby, and handful of kid's activities that keep the fun of Oktoberfest at its height.
Here you can see the 2019 Festival Map, which will lead you from brats to pretzels to music and back again. Snag a beer and wander the grounds of the 2nd largest Oktoberfest experience in the United States. It's a whole lot of fun!
Will you be joining this year? You can visit from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Thursday, October 10th, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, October 11th and 12th, and from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, October 13th. Happy Oktoberfest, Nashville!
