Summer will be here before we know it (we promise), and here in Montana, that means we're eagerly anticipating all the warm weather traditions we wait all year for. While Whitefish Mountain Resort is certainly one of our top skiing destinations, it's also a popular summertime spot. This is largely thanks to the addition of the epic alpine slides that people of all ages love.
Whitefish is a delightful town in any season; a beautiful destination for Montanans and out-of-staters alike.
And Whitefish Mountain Resort is certainly one of its main attractions.
The original alpine slide was built nearly a decade ago, much to our collective delight.
In 2019, the team added a second slide in order to maximize the number of riders each day.
So how does it work? You'll ride a sled down dips, around banked turns, under bridges, and through a tunnel at what will feel like the speed of light.
In reality, you'll be going much slower, of course, and you'll have control of your speed thanks to a hand brake.
The slide doesn't require any experience or skill, and it's a blast for people of all ages.
Children under 48 inches tall can ride for free, but they must ride with an adult.
You won't believe how free you feel as you fly through the air, cascading down the mountain.
This is the best way to see Whitefish that doesn't include a set of skis.
The alpine slides are typically open from mid-June until late September.
While this summer's prices haven't been released yet, a single ride typically costs around $10, and you can buy in bulk to receive a discount. Each ride also includes a free chairlift ride on Chair 6 back to the top of the slides.
