Montana is definitely the most beautiful state, but that doesn't mean it doesn't get a little weird. If you happen to see any of these sights during your Treasure State travels, you may do a double take.
1. Steer Montana, Baker
One minute you're strolling through the O'Fallon Historical Museum in Baker, the next minute you're face to face with the world's largest steer. In life, Steer Montana weighed 3980 pounds and was 5'11".
2. The Montana Vortex & House of Mystery, Columbia Falls
Is it an illusion? Is it a genuine quantum anomaly? We're not entirely certain, but it's definitely odd.
3. Our Lady of the Rockies, Butte
This eye-opening spot is also inspiring.
4. The Berkeley Pit, Butte
.. and a lake full of acidic death-water, also in Butte...
5. The Garden of One Thousand Buddhas, Arlee
... and a huge garden full of Buddha statues in Arlee.
6. The Cut Bank Penguin
Cut Bank's Talking Penguin Statue (yes, it talks!) sits in front of the Glacier Gateway Inn on Main Street. And while it's not entirely true that this city is the coldest spot in the nation, there are days when it definitely feels that way.
7. The World's Largest Purple Spoon
Located outside The Spiral Spoon in East Glacier Park, this monument is certainly a strange claim to fame.
8. The Ptarmigan Tunnel
The Ptarmigan Tunnel isn't exactly something you're going to just walk by... it's located well within the borders of Glacier National Park, near Many Glacier. Still, the first time you see it, it does seem rather odd to come face to face with a tunnel in the middle of nowhere.
9. The Testicle Festival at Rock Creek Lodge
Yeah... just trust us on this one.
Montana's oddities make it even more amazing. Here are some quirky facts about the Treasure State you may not be aware of.
