Montana is often called the Last Best Place because some spots truly feel frozen in time. And while actual time travel isn't quite possible, you can (and should) spend the night at an old ranch from the 1880s which has been converted into a bed and breakfast. The Pinon Springs Ranch is the closest you'll ever get to going back in time.
Pinon Springs Ranch is located at 1600 N Cable Rd. on the outskirts of Anaconda.
This is an old town from the 1800s that has been converted into an all-inclusive resort, and it's as amazing as it sounds.
It's not every day you get the chance to sleep inside an old brothel.
Madam Marley's Brothel has a private room with two beds, a private bathroom, and a balcony.
If you're looking for a little more space, book a stay at the log cabin.
The studio cabin has 2 rooms, 2 beds, a bathroom with a clawfoot tub, and a cozy fireplace.
And if you're feeling especially adventurous, you can spend the night in an old jail cell.
The jail cells come with private bathrooms and very comfortable double beds, so (luckily) it isn't exactly like a stay in jail.
No matter where you choose to rest your head, you'll have access to the saloon, which has a TV, a piano, and plenty of games.
This is where you'll go to hang out with any other guests at the ranch or for a drink or a snack. The rentals do not have full kitchens, but you're more than welcome to bring coolers with you.
Each morning, you'll wake up to a freshly cooked breakfast served in the dining hall.
There are animals at the ranch, including chickens, so you can count on fresh eggs -- and you can even buy a dozen to take home.
This is your chance to connect with Montana's past, immersing yourself in pioneer culture.
You can even help feed the farm animals or do other chores if you so desire.
And if your goal is simply to relax, you can book a massage in the old bathhouse.
You can book an appointment with a licensed massage therapist before or after check in. Afterwards, take a dip in the hot water hole.
Book your stay at Pinon Springs Ranch here, here, or here. And while you're in the area, make sure you check out the charming and underrated little city of Anaconda.
