It wasn’t all that long ago that most Montanans had to do the majority of their shopping at their small-town general store. And while that is no longer true, many of us still appreciate seeing the general stores we have here in the Treasure State, like Cooke City General Store. Luckily, we have other country stores in Montana that are equally charming. One of which is Stutzman’s Country Market in St Ignatius. This small family-owned country market doesn’t look like much from the outside, but this place is always packed with provisions, including a few you didn’t know you needed like their delicious baked goods.
Stutzman’s Country Market is located in St Ignatius. With a population of less than 1,000, it's safe to say that most locals shop here (and love it).
When you approach the store, you'll see an abundance of furniture outside. That's how you know you've arrived.
The market carries all kinds of grocery items, from fresh produce and meats to ice cream and other treats.
They also have a baked goods section (and freshly baked bread) that will blow your mind.
Co-owner Chriss Stutzman grew up in an Amish family in Wayne County, Ohio. And while he left the religion in 1998, he still has the hardworking spirit.
Chriss's wife, Laurie, was raised in the Mennonite church. They share parts of their heritage whenever they stock the shelves.
Stock up on nuts, seeds, and dry fruit for energy...
...and don't forget to pick up some deli meats and cheeses.
This place has over 40 kinds of fresh-sliced cheeses and over 30 kinds of sliced meats.
Stutzman's Country Market is open every day except Sunday, so be sure to plan your trip accordingly.
The next time you're in the area, stock up on all this place has to offer.
Have you ever heard of Stutzmans Country Market, the middle-of-nowhere general store in Montana? Whether you need to stock your pantry or you just need a snack, this place makes a perfect pit stop.
Be sure to spend the day exploring the tiny town of St. Ignatius.
