Montana is full of breathtaking natural beauty, friendly people, and wide open spaces. If you're lucky enough to live here, you should be enjoying that to the fullest.
Here are a few things you've probably never thought of doing here (but really should):
1. Explore the Gibson Dam and Gibson Reservoir
The Gibson Dam is located 20 miles from the nearest town. As if that wasn't appealing enough, the views from the reservoir are incredible.
2. Check out the Evelyn Cameron Gallery at the Prairie County Museum
Located in Terry, the Prairie County Museum is dedicated to preserving the works of frontier photographer Evelyn Cameron. Evelyn was an English noblewoman living on a wealthy estate in England who married a poor Scotsman and moved to Montana in the 1800s. Her photography captured early Montana prairie life the way no one else could.
3. Have dinner on a yurt
The Montana Dinner Yurt is as amazing as it sounds. Nestled in the woods on the Big Sky Resort property, the candlelit dinner you'll enjoy here is a meal (and an experience) you'll never forget.
4. Say hello to Steer Montana
From 1923 - 1938, Steer Montana roamed the plains. His remains now sit in the O'Fallon Historical Museum in Baker, and he's definitely worth visiting. In life, this steer weighed 3,980 pounds.
5. Go to as many Montana festivals as you can
It takes a lot of planning to pull off these celebrations of our culture and history. Enjoy them.
6. Go on an ice cream themed road trip
We mapped out a Montana ice cream trail, and it's as amazing as it sounds.
7. Walk amongst the Buddhas
Arlee's Garden of 1,000 Buddhas is truly a sight to behold.
8. Watch the pig races at the Bear Creek Saloon & Steakhouse
This is the only place in Montana where you can dine on delicious steak at 5 and watch pigs race by 7.
9. Hang out with mermaids
The Sip N' Dip Lounge in Great Falls might be a tourist trap, but admit it: It's a good one.
10. Ride a bike down Whitefish Mountain
Whitefish Mountain Resort isn't just for skiing. They offer plenty of warm weather activities including an epic alpine slide and the most beautiful bike ride you'll ever enjoy. Put it on your list for next spring.
It's easy to love life when you live in the Treasure State. Do you have an ultimate Montana bucket list?
