There's a lot to love about Montana summers. When the weather warms up, we enjoy so many outdoor hikes, events and festivals. And every July, Montanans gather in Billings for the amazing Big Sky International Balloon Rendezvous.
The Big Sky International Balloon Rendezvous is a nonprofit organization to maintain the excitement of hot air ballooning in the Billings area.
Because of recent community support, the balloon rally will continue just has it has for 21 years.
This year's Big Sky Balloon Rally will be July 28-30.
This family-friendly event is free, kicking off at 6 AM (weather permitting).
The sight of all those hot air balloons being launched into the air is really a sight to behold.
The flight of the balloons lasts about an hour.
At this festival, you can participate in the fun.
As long as weather and other safety conditions permit, some lucky guests will be able to ride in a hot air balloon. Details are usually announced a few days before the festivals.
The festival is possible because of the donations of several local sponsors.
The best place to watch the balloons is the launch point at Amend Park at King Avenue East and Nimitz Drive.
The Big Sky International Balloon Rendezvous is definitely an amazing thing to experience. Here are some other Montana festivals you won't want to miss.
