There are beautiful churches all over Mississippi. However, there’s one town that seems to be overflowing with beautiful religious structures – and it’s New Albany. The abundance of churches is even more impressive when you take into account the town’s small size. Not only beautiful, many of the churches are historically significant, making them even more special. Take a look:
Located in Union County, New Albany is known for its plethora of antique stores, vibrant downtown, and friendly residents. But that’s not all the town has to brag about.
There’s also the fact that it’s home to an impressive number of churches. In fact, the tiny town of 8,500 has dozens of churches.
In recent years, the Union County Historical Society and Heritage Museum created the Hallelujah Trail as a way to commemorate the county’s historic churches.
The trail includes Union County churches that are 100-years-old or older, with a vast majority of the churches being located in New Albany.
Boasting an incredible variety, New Albany is home to churches of all shapes, sizes, and denominations.
Drive around the town, and you’ll find everything from traditional churches to charming little chapels.
You can do more than view the exterior of the churches, though. Since all the churches on the Hallelujah Trail are still in operation, you can attend a service and experience the church in all its glory.
A drive along the Hallelujah Trail is a great way to spend time in New Albany, but it's not all you can do in the charming town.
In addition to great antique shops and a lively downtown, New Albany offers plenty of opportunities for small town fun. The Tanglefoot Trail, Wolf Howl Animal Preserve, and a variety of festivals are just a few things to keep you busy while visiting.
