A couple of years ago, we covered some of Mississippi’s best tours. (You can read that article here.) But it looks as if there’s a new tour to add to that list. Starting earlier this month, the Betsy Ann Riverboat began offering sightseeing tours along the Gulf Coast. An exciting way to explore coastal Mississippi, this boat tour should be on your 2018 bucket list! Take a look:
Docked at the Gulfport Harbor, the Betsy Ann is an 85’ paddle wheeler that dates back to 1989.
It’s actually a replica of the original Betsy Ann, which was the first steel hull steam wheeler to navigate the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers.
The roomy boat, which features an upper deck and closed cabin, can accommodate up to 150 passengers and offers a couple of different tours.
Perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, the Historical/Ecological Tour navigates the Mississippi Sound and Back Bay Biloxi.
During the 2-hour journey, passengers are treated to beautiful scenery and close ups of dolphins, pelicans, and herons.
For history buffs, the Sightseeing Tour is the way to go.
This tour takes passengers to Deer Island and provides plenty of info on the history of the Gulf Coast, barrier islands, Mississippi Sound, and seafood industry.
In addition to informative tours, the Betsy Ann also offers a Sunset Dinner Cruise.
You’re sure to create lasting memories on this 2-hour cruise, which includes entertainment and stunning sunsets over the Mississippi Sound.
No matter which tour you opt for, you’ll get to experience the huge paddle wheel turning and water dripping from its paddles – an experience that’s sure to remind you of days long gone.
Whether you’re a local or tourist, a ride on this historic boat is bound to deliver an unforgettable coastal adventure!
