Have a holly jolly Christmas at Lewis Lights! With hundreds of thousands of holiday lights and hundreds of wood-carved characters, the beloved holiday display is bound to instill some Yuletide cheer, just as it’s been doing for more than 30 years. There's no better way to celebrate the holiday season than with a trip to these Christmas lights in Mississippi. Take a look:
Heading into its 34th year, Lewis Lights in Purvis is one of Mississippi’s longest-running holiday displays.
It's lasted that long for a reason.
The walk-thru display has come a long way since its start decades ago. Originally, it was a simple residential display.
Today, this attraction is among the state’s most beloved displays, attracting people from near and far.
The huge display draws people from all over the state. It has some of the best Christmas lights in MS.
And with more than 200,000 lights, it’s among the largest in Mississippi.
Between the sheer span of the display and the charming way everything is organized, not to mention the beloved characters depicted, it's a slam dunk.
The display’s magic isn’t solely dependent on the thousands of twinkling lights, though.
Over 300 wood-carved figures contribute to the magic of this experience!
These figures are also what make the display different from any other in the state. It's a completely unique experience.
Carved and painted by hand, the wooden figures are one-of-a-kind, but that doesn’t mean you won’t recognize some of them.
Characters from a variety of beloved children’s books and TV shows are represented among the wooden figures, so you’re sure to spot a few familiar faces.
It's fun for the whole family to spot these recognizable and adorable faces and to see what holiday shenanigans these characters are up to.
In addition to characters depicting festive scenes, the carvings include popular holiday stories, which you can read as you meander through the display.
Having a narrative to follow makes the lights that much more engaging.
The display is open nightly until December 31st, and as always, admission is free. However, you don’t want to forget your wallet, since homemade crafts and home-grown produce, jams, and jellies will be available for sale.
So you can enjoy a beautiful holiday lights display and get some Christmas shopping done at the same time.
