There are several holiday displays in Mississippi but none are quite as magical as the one found at the Mississippi Coast Model Railroad Museum. Sure to make your Christmas season merry and bright, the massive display features nearly one millions lights, holiday décor, and train rides for all ages. Take a look:
Unbeknownst to many, one of the state’s best holiday displays can be found at the Mississippi Coast Model Railroad Museum in Gulfport.
Decked out in festive décor – inside and out – the museum is like a real-life holiday wonderland.
Inside, you can peruse the museum’s LEGO railroad display, which has undergone a Yuletide makeover and is even more magical than usual.
The area behind the museum is where the real magic happens – and that’s because it’s filled with twinkling lights and festive décor.
Brimming with whimsy, the display features nearly one million lights! As you meander through the giant display, you’ll spot some of Christmas’ most beloved characters, including Santa Claus, elves, and Jack Skeleton.
Though the lights and décor are undoubtedly amazing, they’re not even the best part of the display.
The best part has got to be the train rides!
Suitable for all ages, the train rides are sure to delight and provide a comfy way to take in the scenic surroundings.
And since no holiday celebration would be complete without him, Santa Claus will be at the museum every Saturday in December from 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Unlike most holiday events, this one won’t break the bank. There’s actually no admission; however, donations are encouraged ($5 for adults and $2 for children).
The holiday display opened the day after Thanksgiving and will remain open throughout December. Remember, it’s closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
