There are lots of great holiday displays in Mississippi, but they’re not all contained to land. True to its name, Christmas on Deer Creek is a dazzling display that floats atop the waters of Deer Creek. It’s as enchanting as it sounds and you don’t want to miss it ... it's the best Christmas lights in Mississippi!
A small town of about 4,000, Leland is most known as the birthplace of Kermit the Frog.
That’s not its only claim to fame, though. Leland also hosts one of the "Top 20 Events in the Southeast,” otherwise known as Christmas on Deer Creek.
Among the state’s most enchanting – and unique – holiday displays, Christmas on Deer Creek features twinkling lights and floating Christmas scenes along Deer Creek. The dazzling display can be viewed by car or from the creek's banks.
Leland has celebrated the holidays with Christmas on Deer Creek for more than 50 years!
The event in the past has begun the first Saturday in December.
The lights were turned on at sunset on the opening day. A spectacle in itself, they're turned on by Santa, who arrives on a water propelled sleigh.
Slated to be “bigger and better than ever before,” this year's display has been revamped as a one-day, all-day event.
Breakfast with characters from Frozen, a marketplace, children’s parade, 5K race, outdoor concert, and fireworks display were just some of the new additions guests could enjoy beginning in 2021.
If this has become a favorite holiday tradition of yours or you're wanting to experience it for the first time this year, be sure to note the change to a one-day event so you can pencil it into your holiday schedule and don't miss it!
With dazzling lights, yuletide décor, and fun festivities, Christmas on Deer Creek is positively enchanting!
