Since Minneapolis and Saint Paul are freezing cold for what feels like over half of the year, much of our time is spent indoors in a sort of hibernation. Saint Anthony Falls runs parallel to the falls, and on the western bank of the bridge, you can experience the mill ruins and appreciate the Minneapolis of the past.

2. Take a segway tour of the city.

It's a little dorky, but can be totally fun. There's no better way to be a tourist in your own city than riding a segway with a guide to show you all the sites of the area.

3. Enjoy one of the city's many beautiful gardens.

The Minneapolis Parks and Recreation department are incredibly devoted to all of the city's parks and gardens. Some of them, like the Japanese garden, are absolutely out of this world. It's the perfect way to spend a tranquil afternoon.

4. Take advantage of the free music and movies in one of the city's astounding parks!

Is there anything better than watching a movie in the great outdoors on a giant screen? We don't think so. Every summer, both Minneapolis and Saint Paul have schedules in different parks that showcase local music, and family friendly movies.

It's a great way to celebrate small business and appreciate local farmers, plus everything you buy from the market will be downright delicious.

6. Chase waterfalls at Minnehaha Regional Park.

Minnehaha Falls is a one of a kind waterfall in the city of Minneapolis. It has to be seen to be believed. Anyone can visit and take in the natural beauty Minneapolis has to offer.

7. Befriend animals from all over the globe at Como Zoo.

Lions, tigers, and giraffes, oh my! Most of the Como Zoo in Saint Paul is outdoors. The free zoo is small enough to see every exhibit without getting so exhausted that you can barely make it back to your car.

8. Take a walk around any of Minneapolis' lakes.

Minneapolis is home to 12 lakes that are just ready for you to explore. On days when it's not warm enough to swim or sail across the water, a long walk can be just the trick.

There isn't any other park in the entire country like the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. You can't call yourself a Minneapolitan without showing your love to the iconic Spoon Bridge and Cherry. The park reopened this spring after an extensive remodel, so there are plenty of new sculptures to appreciate.

10. Enjoy a meal on one of the many restaurant patios Minneapolis and Saint Paul have.

Dining outside on a beautiful day in the Twin Cities is really what living in this area is all about. For brunch, happy hour, or a romantic night out, there's the perfect patio for everyone.
