Here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes, we have almost as many quirky roadside attractions decorating our highways and byways. Some celebrate Minnesota's natural resources, like the countless giant walleye that grace our roadsides. Others, like statues of Paul Bunyan and Babe, celebrate Minnesota's culture. Still other attractions, like Chisolm's Iron Man, point to the state's industries. And some are just plain weird: Ed's Museum and the World's Biggest Ball of Twine, to name a few.
In Blue Earth, Minnesota, each of these four categories combine at the giant roadside statue of the Jolly Green Giant. It celebrates Minnesota's agriculture, reminds visitors of the state's homegrown businesses, and has become a state symbol almost as iconic as Paul Bunyan. Below, you'll find the history of this unique roadside attraction as well as what you'll find when you visit it:
The Jolly Green Giant Statue is found in Blue Earth, Minnesota. This is about 140 miles southwest of the Twin Cities, close to the Iowa border. The 55-foot-tall statue serves as a welcome to the town.
The statue was built in 1979 with permission from the Green Giant company, headquartered about 70 miles away in Le Sueur. It was built with money from local businesses in an effort to attract attention to the town. It still receives many visitors today.

When you're looking for festive displays of Christmas lights in Duluth, MN - or anywhere in the state for that matter - Bentleyville USA may be the first place that comes to mind. Stretching along the harbor at Duluth's Bayfront Festival Park, this massive walk-thru holiday display boasts millions of lights that are certain to give you a holiday glow. The event is free, but charitable donations are encouraged. There is a charge for on-site parking. For more information about Bentleyville USA's Tour of Lights, visit its website.
Kiwanis Holiday Lights is the largest and, arguably, the best drive-through Christmas lights display in Minnesota. It takes place annually at Mankato's Sibley Park, where you'll find all manner of festive illumination, as well as concessions. 3. GLOW Holiday Festival - St. Paul
GLOW Holiday Festival has become annual tradition in Minnesota's capital city. Each year, CHS Field in Lowertown is transformed into a walk-thru holiday wonderland of lights. In addition to the lights, you'll find concessions, activities, and even a gift shop. This festival is definitely a contender for the best display of Christmas lights in St. Paul, MN. 4. Broadway Street - Alexandria

5. Dalton Christmas Fest - Dalton
We love the amazing spirit behind the display of drive-through Christmas lights in Dalton, MN! Every year, this tiny town decorates its Threshermen's Pioneer Village for its Dalton Christmas Fest. The festival kicks off with a tree lighting ceremony on the night of Thanksgiving, and events take place throughout the weeks between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day. The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum's Winter Lights is our favorite display of Christmas lights near Minneapolis, MN. Located in the southwest suburb of Chanhassen, this whimsical event turns the arboretum into an illuminated, enchanted forest. Why We Love It: It's taken several trips for me to figure out my perfect "weekender bag that's TSA approved," but I've found my perfect carry on with the TOBIQ Colorado 30L.
