There is something so satisfying about discovering a new shopping spot, especially when it's full of forgotten treasures and things from the past. Whether you're looking for that old doll you had when you were a youngster or that set of dishes your Nana served Thanksgiving dinner on every year, I've found a source of enormous thrifting in Michigan.
It's located in Bay City, which loves vintage stuff, apparently. Not only is it home to a massive Antique Mall but there's also an old-school quarters arcade that's definitely worth a stop.
Even the building that houses this massive antique store in Bay City, Michigan is vintage. It's housed in the historic Campbell House Hotel building, located right in the heart of this idyllic Michigan town.
Now, the size of the building might look a bit intimidating from the outside. However, I know from experience that the interior is well-organized and easy to shop.
In fact, it may be too easy to shop. You know how there are some antique stores where you just can't find anything you want to bring home with you? Well, Bay City Antiques is the opposite - you'll find some many trinkets and treasures to bring home that you'll wish you had extra room in your car!
I know I did! When we visited this huge thrifting spot in Michigan, we left with things we didn't even know we wanted - like a working flute!
We even found some things we didn't think you'd find in an antique shop, like scrap glass for my new stained glass hobby! While I'm used to seeing completed stained glass pieces of art at antique shops like this one in Bay City, Michigan, I wasn't expecting to find supplies as well.
I'm not exaggerating when I tell you that this humungous thrifting spot in Michigan is an all-day adventure. Bay City Antiques is two stories with over 60,000 square feet to shop.
If antique, colored glass is your jam, this antique shop in Bay City, Michigan has shelves and shelves for you to drool over. There were so many gorgeous options when I went I considered becoming a glass collector, too - but I definitely don't have room for that.
In addition to housewares and glassware, there is so much more to be found at this huge Michigan antique store. You can find furniture, clothing, toys, antique appliances, and so much more.
One of my personal favorite parts of this antique store in Bay City, Michigan is the drawers that shoppers can rifle through. They are filled with trinkets like silverware, cabinet knobs, and other small bits and bobs of interesting things.
This store is so giant and stuffed to the brim with exciting finds that you might as well call it an "Antiques Shopping Mall". You'll be amazed at what you can find at Bay City Antiques.
Yes, that is an old payphone that they have for sale. Another thing this massive thrift shop specializes in is architectural salvage.
This means you can find things like old signs, and old store fixtures. There's even a room full of doors of all shapes and sizes. Some are antique, and some have come from torn-down buildings. It's a pretty neat room.
One of the best parts of shopping in antique or thrift stores is finding old pieces of my childhood. If this Olympic Cabbage Patch Kid were there the last time I visited, she'd definitely have come home with me. I had one when I was little - red hair and everything!
Bay City Antique Center is close enough to the Metro Detroit area for an enormous thrifting day trip in Michigan. Combine your shopping with one of the many delicious restaurants in Bay City for a full day of fun! We love this one that's housed in a former City Hall!
If you take your time poring over all of the amazing items at Bay City Antique Center, you might want to stay overnight. I love that this vacation rental has a hot top that's open 365 days a year!
