The 2019 Antrim County Petoskey Stone Festival will take place on Saturday, May 25th, at Barnes Park. The park sits at 12298 Barnes Park Rd in Eastport.
As its name suggests, this fun festival celebrates the many delights of Michigan’s official state stone: the gorgeous Petoskey stone. Prepare to have a blast.
From 8 a.m. through 4:30 p.m., visitors will have the chance to learn more about the Petoskey stone while learning about the formation of and many uses for this treasure.
Kick off the day with a 5K race that’s sure to get your heart pumping. Throughout the fun run, you’ll appreciate all sorts of natural splendor and pretty views.
Attendees of all ages will have a blast at the 14th annual stone-skipping contest, which celebrates a timeless use for Petoskey stones. You’re in for some childlike glee.
Hunt for Petoskey stones along the shores of Grand Traverse Bay, check out a trout fishing pond with the kiddos, or attend a nature education session. What’s not to love?
If that weren’t enough, you’ll also have the chance to visit a variety of vendors, many of which offer beautiful Petoskey stone-based art, jewelry, and decor for purchase.
