Are you looking for an outdoor event in the Great Lake State this summer? Look no further than the Howell Melon Festival in Howell, Michigan. Featuring a classic car show, live music, and a “Melon Ball,” there’s something for everyone at this delightful fruit-themed festival.
Howell is a small town located in Southeast Michigan, roughly an hour's drive west of Detroit.
The Howell Melon Festival has been delighting Michiganders for more than 60 years. I absolutely adore summer festivals! Any excuse to get outside, connect with neighbors, and grab some tasty food is a win-win in my book!
Some of the Howell Melon Festival activities include a classic car show, an art and craft fair, a golf tournament, a concert, and the Melon Run 5K. There is also the Howell Melon Ball, which is a traditional sit-down dinner at a golf course with dueling pianos; how fun!
You’ll find plenty of activities to entertain kids and adults alike. There are food trucks and tasty treat stands that sell melon-themed foods like melon ice cream.
Of course, if you’re looking for the actual fruit, you can find locally-grown Howell melons on-site or at the farmer’s market. Yum!
The whole town turns out for this exciting event that happens every August. So whether you’re visiting for the Melon Run or to get some Michigan-grown fruit, you’ll want to make this festival a yearly tradition.
