There’s no denying that summer is Michigan’s prime tourist season. After all, it’s tough to resist our state’s gorgeous beaches, stunning sand dunes, and breathtaking outdoor attractions. While summer certainly draws in the crowds, there’s plenty to be said for the beauty of autumn in Michigan. Here are nine lovely destinations that retain their appeal when the leaves begin to change.

1. Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore

This magical Upper Peninsula destination never seems to lose its charm, regardless of the season. During the fall months, there’s no better place to enjoy a hike along Lake Superior clifftops, head out for a boat tour of the rock formations themselves, or simply enjoy a cup of hot cocoa along the shoreline.
