The holidays are nearly upon us, and you know what that means: it’s time to start digging those Christmas lights out of storage. There’s nothing more magical than a Christmas tree covered from head to toe in brilliant decor, no matter how many times you’ve experienced this gorgeous sight. When you’re ready to share the excitement of the season with your fellow Michiganders, check out this fantastic event.
The Campus Martius Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony will take place today, November 16th, at Campus Martius Park in the heart of downtown Detroit.
This heartwarming event is sure to capture the hearts of Michiganders young and old. After all, it really doesn’t get much more festive than a massive Christmas tree.
The event itself will kick off at 5 p.m. with all sorts of unique entertainment, including music from Detroit’s own CeCe Winans and live Olympic figure skating performances.
As the evening progresses, a sense of magic will surely permeate the air. Mingle with loved ones as you listen to local choirs or sip on a few cups of soothing hot cocoa.
You’ll even have the chance to peruse the Cadillac Square Market for a few gifts or hop aboard for a whimsical carriage ride. It’s tough not to have a blast here.
At 7:45 p.m., gather ‘round for the main event: the lighting of the park’s breathtaking Christmas tree. After a quick countdown, the tree will come to life with thousands of lights.
If you can’t make it to tonight’s event, never fear: you’ll have plenty of time to visit the Campus Martius ice skating rink and snap a photo of the towering tree this winter.
Prepare yourself for a truly heartwarming experience. We can’t imagine a more wonderful way to kick off the holiday season here in the Great Lakes State.
