We love living in Detroit, but there’s no denying that the day-to-day stresses of work and family obligations can certainly take their toll. When you’re feeling anxious or uneasy, a bit of peace and quiet can truly work wonders. Luckily, there are plenty of peaceful places in Detroit where you can go to help yourself re-center and begin living your best life once again.
1. Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory
If you find yourself on Belle Isle, you absolutely must visit this gorgeous conservatory, which features plant life and gorgeous foliage from a variety of environments. As you make your way through everything from bright blooms to cacti, you’ll appreciate a soothing natural vibe that’s sure to make your stress melt away in no time at all. If that weren’t enough, it’s free - and it's one of our favorite peaceful spots in Detroit.
2. Detroit Institute of Arts
Many Detroiters are soothed by this gorgeous museum’s seemingly endless collection of art, artifacts, and fascinating exhibits. After a stressful day, there’s nothing better than immersing yourself in history and challenging your mind while appreciating stunning architecture. The DIA is a Detroit favorite, and it’s easy to see why.
3. Milliken State Park
When you’re craving a rejuvenating dose of the great outdoors, head to Milliken State Park for a walk along the riverfront. Snap a few photos of the scenic lighthouse, bask in the fresh air as it makes its way across the water, or settle in for a picnic during warmer months. There’s no shortage of scenery and serenity to be found here.

This park is so lovely that you might just forget you’re in the heart of a major American city. Hop on your bike and venture to the Dequindre Cut for a peaceful journey through the fresh air. This urban pathway is great for joggers, skaters, bikers, and strollers of all ages who simply need to stretch their legs and walk off a bit of daily stress.
