The arrival of winter weather in Michigan leads many of us to daydream about outdoor excursions in the snow. Regardless of your age, there’s something magical about heading outside to sled, tube, or build a few snowmen - and Michigan’s chilly months lend themselves well to plenty of seasonal excitement. One sledding hill here in the Great Lakes State will take you on an awesome journey this winter.
Avalanche Preserve, also known as Avalanche Mountain Preserve, sits at 1129 Wilson St in Boyne City.
This breathtaking natural area features 300 acres of land and seemingly endless opportunities for outdoor recreation. There’s so much to experience here in each and every season.
While many visitors choose to spend time hiking, biking, or skiing, there’s also an on-site sledding hill that promises to deliver a fun-filled and snowy adventure for all who stop by.
When the ground is coated with a fresh batch of snow, grab your sled and head to the hill at Avalanche. As you zip down the slippery slope, you’ll enjoy lovely forested views.
The park remains open until 10:30 p.m. every night, so there’s plenty of time to drop in when you get an itch to sled. It’s easy to feel like a kid again as you make lasting memories here.
While the hill is steep enough to provide plenty of excitement, it’s also safe for younger guests. We aren’t kidding when we say that the entire family can have a total blast here.
If you’re in the mood for more wintertime fun, check out the on-site ice skating rink or take to the frosted trails with your snowshoes. Avalanche Preserve is lively all season long.
Whether you’re sledding for the first time in years or simply continuing your favorite pastime, an outing to Avalanche Preserve will add plenty of magic to your Michigan winter.
