3. Sam Adams Brewery Tour, Boston
This factory tour is a classic Boston activity that too many natives skip. Get to know the Sam Adams brewery on a free tour that lasts about an hour. During the tour, you'll be led through the entire brewing process and get to taste the speciality malts and hops that are used to brew Boston's favorite beer. Of course, you'll also get to sample a few of the beers on offer. This tour is for visitors 21 years and older, and tickets are first come, first serve at the brewery. You’ll get to watch the machines as they slide potatoes into thin chips and check out the workers as they make sure everything runs smoothly. Okay, okay, so this one isn’t your standard factory tour. You won’t be wandering through rows of machinery, but you will be leaning about how this company produces their sought-after alpaca wool and products…all while making friends with the adorable alpacas themselves! The company operates out of a 19-acre farm on the beautiful island of Martha’s Vineyard and has a friendly her of over 50 colorful Huacaya alpaca. After learning about the farm's work and visiting the alpacas, head to the gift shop to take home a souvenir of your trip. Tours run from May to October and are just $5 per person.
