It’s the most wonderful time of the year… and that’s certainly the case if you’re at the Enchanted Village in Avon.
Tucked inside Jordan’s Furniture, this free attraction provides nostalgic fun for the whole family. Older friends and relatives might remember the days when the village was on display at the Downtown Crossing location of Jordan Marsh.
The department store closed the village in 1972 and it wasn’t accessible to the public again until 1990.
Jordan Marsh was taken over by Macy's.
That means a whole generation of Bostonians missed out on this charming tradition!
Since then, the Enchanted Village has been in several different locations until landing at its forever home – Jordan’s Furniture in Avon. (Despite the similar name, the company isn’t tied to Jordan Marsh).
Wander past the village scenes, which have been restored to their former glory.
Pause at a bakery tableau, or smile at kids playing musical instruments.
Even the people lining up at the post office look happy, so clearly some magic is at work here!
The village casts its spell on all who see it.
Round off your experience with a blueberry muffin, just like the ones available at the original Jordan Marsh stores.
The Christmas festivities don't end there!
This Jordan’s location offers Enchanted Ice, a 4,000-square-foot indoor ice rink. Unlike the Enchanted Village, this isn’t free, but the $6.00 price of admission does include skate rental.
For the grand finale, check out LITE, a 15-minute long laser and special effects show that runs from November 18, 2017 through January 1, 2018. It costs $6.00 per person.
Furniture shopping has never been as enjoyable as it is at this winter wonderland in Avon!
Tip: If possible, go during the week when crowds are smaller.
Jordan's Furniture is located at 100 Stockwell Drive, Avon, MA 02322. Visit the official Jordan's Furniture website for more information.
