The Cape Cod Potato Chip factory tour is a fun way to learn about the Bay State's favorite chip and pick up some snacks at the same time!
Located in Hyannis, the factory receives over 250,000 visitors annually.
It's a great alternative to the beach on hot days and a wonderful rainy-day option.
To begin your tour, park in the factory lot and follow the seagull footprints (and your nose) to the entrance.
The tour is self-guided and shouldn't take you more than 30-40 minutes, so it's an ideal quick afternoon adventure.
Inside, you'll peer through large windows as workers and machinery take the potatoes from spud to snack.
It's fun to watch the chips move around on conveyor belts.
This is one of the few food factory tours in the state, so it's a pretty unique experience.
There are information signs letting you know what's happening at each step.
At the end, each person can grab up to two bags of free chips!
The tour ends in the gift shop, where you can pick up specialty flavors, branded merchandise and quirky Cape Cod gifts.
You'll come out the other side with insider knowledge about these tasty chips and a belly full of snacks.
Due to space constraints and safety regulations, the factory can't accommodate strollers. However, you're free to carry your smaller tots through the tour.
