The holidays are upon us and you can find some of the most festive Christmas lights in Maryland. There's plenty of options whether you're looking to take in glittering views by the bay, or hit up the city for streets lined with glowing rowhomes. Take a romantic holiday stroll through glimmering gardens or drive-through joyful archways. Grab a Thermos of hot cocoa and put on your winter cap because here are the most merry and bright places to check out!
1) Winterfest of Lights, Ocean City
This eastern shore event runs from November 19th to January 3rd and features over one million lights. Visit at sunset to add even more breathtaking beauty to your experience. Located at 125th St Bayside.
2) Annmarie Garden in Lights, Dowell
The Annmarie Garden in Lights located at 13480 Dowell Rd is open until January 2nd. This quirky walk-through includes mythical creatures, pirates, and even dinosaurs!
3) 34th Street, Baltimore
Here in Maryland we have our very own Miracle On 34th Street! Located in the Hampden neighborhood in Baltimore, this stunning street is famous for it's magical presentation almost straight out of a movie. Make sure to visit before it ends on January 1st.
4) Lights on the Bay, Annapolis
You can visit Lights on the Bay at Sandy Point State Park now through January 1st. In some sections, the twinkling Christmas lights are reflected in the Bay. Simply dazzling.
5) Winter Lights Festival, Gaithersburg
Seneca Creek State Park is home to the Winter Lights Festival. Bring the whole family and drive through sparkling archways while counting snowflakes. But hurry, the last day is December 31st.
6) Garden of Lights, Wheaton
Visit the Garden of Lights at Brookside Gardens, open until January 3rd. Here, lights wrap around plants, trees, and fountains for a serene, magical scene.
7) Gaylord National's ICE!, Oxon Hill
Journey to the National Harbor not only for the giant Christmas tree but also to visit ICE! at the Gaylord Resort. Now through January 3rd you can walk through hand carved ice sculptures and zip down the ice slide. The ice is kept at a chilly 9 degrees so make sure to bundle up!
8) DC Temple Festival of Lights, Kensington
Head to the DC Temple at 9900 Stoneybrook Dr for an out of this world view. You can simply view the lights or attend the FREE holiday concert! Ends December 31st.
9) Symphony of Lights, Columbia
Although the Symphony of Lights is taking a break this year due to construction, make sure to put it on your future list. It's long been a family favorite and even includes an annual seek-and-find wordsearch. Located at Merriweather Post Pavilion.
