Muth's Candies first opened way back in 1921.
Muth's Candies existed almost a century ago in Louisville's past. Muth's is a very old-fashioned candy shop in that their recipes have been passed down from generation to generation. Rudy Muth decided to fulfill his dream of becoming a candy-maker in Louisville after WWI, even though competition was high. Decades and generations later, Muth's is still going strong, and the quality of their candy is just as incredible as day one.
You'll feel like a kid again entering this amazing candy shop.
Walking into the shop and smelling that sweet scent of sugar in the air reminds you of simpler times. Although this candy store isn't huge, it does have two long glass cases lined with assorted candies.
Upon entering the shop you'll probably meet a Muth descendant!
The family is now on their third and fourth generation in the candy business. The Muth''s are very knowledgeable about all of their candies and will likely offer you a few samples to try while you're in.
These shelves are lined with so many sweets.
Caramels, chocolates, gummies, taffy-- you name it, Muth's has it! You'll see many candies that you can't find anywhere else in the city and a few Louisville favorites, of course.
They have a Derby Collection.
What better for a Derby party than bourbon balls, chocolate horseshoes, or horse medallions? Since Muth's is a historic Louisville business, many tourists love to visit here to buy a horseshoe or two.
Modjeskas are a must-try here.
Our own Louisville candy, the caramel and marshmallow modjeska is the star of the show here at Muth's. They don't claim to have served modjeskas from their conception, nor to have invented the recipe. What they do claim is that their recipe is closest to the original, and you’ll enjoy every morsel of putting that claim to the test. Hopefully you'll be lucky enough to try a free sample of this delicious candy, because you'll never go back to any other candy store for modjeskas after this. The candy is so light and soft, and it instantly starts to melt in your mouth.
They have boxed chocolates and caramels for the perfect gift.
Muth's cute boxes of chocolates make the perfect gift. Keep this store in mind as the holiday season is rolling around soon!
Delicious homemade brittle.

And candied apples just in time for the fall season!
Doesn't it sound amazing to get one of these huge candied apples and eat it with a bit of apple cider? They had to find more ways to use their amazing caramel, and these caramel apples dipped and glazed in in different toppings will be sure to impress.
