New Orleanians will throw a party for just about anything. With over 100 festivals each year, you can pretty much expect there to be a festival going on just about every weekend. Fall in New Orleans means there will be many festivities coming to a neighborhood near you, so here are some of the weirdest and wackiest festivals in and around New Orleans that you just can’t miss:

1. Beignet Festival

This free festival celebrates one of the most iconic New Orleans foods: the beignet. From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on October 6, 2018, head over to the Festival Grounds at City Park to feast on both sweet and savory beignets from some of the most talented chefs in the city.

2. Crescent City Blues & BBQ Festival

Nothing goes better with some tasty BBQ than some toe-tapping Blues, right? Head over to Lafayette Square Park on October 12-14, 2018 to feast on some finger-licking good BBQ while dancing the day away to some of the most talented musicians in the city.

3. Gentilly Fest

The Gentilly Festival began in 2007 and has grown exponentially ever since. Admission is free and the festival supports the New Orleans police, fire, EMS, Children’s Music camps, and other local organizations. There’s always live music, amazing food from a variety of local vendors, arts & crafts, and also a kid’s village for the little ones. The festival takes place October 12-14, 2018 at Pontchartrain Park (Address: 5701 Press Dr., New Orleans, LA 70126)

4. Carnaval Latino

Celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month, this is one festival you won’t want to miss. There will be a parade that will roll through the French Quarter, Latin Music at Washington Square and the House of Blues. The festival takes places on October 13, 2018, and is great fun for the entire family.

5. Praise Fest

Praise Fest returns to Bayou St. John for its 10th year on October 19-21, 2018, and you won’t want to miss it. The three-day festival is free to attend and features incredible gospel music, entertainers, and speakers.

6. Krewe of Boo

Come out and celebrate Halloween with the Krewe of Boo; New Orleans’ official Halloween Parade. Dress up in your spookiest costume and head out to the French Quarter for this fun-filled parade on October 20, 2018.

7. Mac N Cheese Fest

Cheese lovers, this one’s for you. On October 20, 2018, the second annual Mac N Cheese Fest takes over Louis Armstrong Park for some deliciously cheesy fun. Come sample some amazing mac and cheese dishes from your favorite local restaurants from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. while listening to fantastic live music.

8. Bayou Bacchanal

New Orleans’ own Caribbean Festival descends down onto Crescent Park on November 2-3, 2018 for some delightful island fun. Now in its 16th year, this festival celebrates Caribbean culture and heritage with food, music, dance, and more.

9. Bayou Road Balloon Festival

Located at the Sidney D. Torres Memorial Park in Chalmette, the Bayou Road Balloon Festival returns for its second year of hot air balloon fun. This family-friendly festival features tethered balloon rides, live music, carnival rides, food, drinks, and so much more. The festival takes place November 9-11, 2018, and a single day pass will run you $5/person, or you could get the weekend pass for $10, which is good for the entire three days.
