Plantation and swamp tours are generally thought of as tourist attractions, but they don’t have to be. Plantation tours are an incredibly insightful afternoon well spent, and an absolute must for any history lover. Swamp tours give us a front row seat into some of the most beautiful scenery Louisiana has to offer, and lucky for us, it’s located just outside of New Orleans. Cajun Pride Swamp Tours combines the best of both worlds with a swamp and plantation tour so you don’t have to choose, you can do both!
Swamp tours are a fantastic way to spend an afternoon.
Family-friendly and great for all ages, the whole family will enjoy getting to hop on a boat and cruise through the swamps located just outside of New Orleans.
Cajun Pride Swamp Tours is a family owned company with over 20 years of experience.
They differ from other swamp tour companies in the area in that they have a privately owned swamp, so you won’t be disturbed by other boats in the area.
They offer tours seven days a week, so no matter what your schedule is, you can surely find the time to pay them a visit and have the quintessential New Orleans experience with a combination tour.
Their combination tours offer the best of both worlds.
Perfect for groups with both nature lovers and history buffs.
The first stop on the combination tour leads you to the swamps.
You’ll venture through parts of the Manchac Swamp, learning about the history and significance of these beautiful wetlands from a knowledgeable tour captain.
During your swamp tour, you’ll want to keep your eye out for wildlife.
This is the perfect time of year to spot alligators, turtles, wild hogs, and countless species of birds.
After your swamp tour, you’ll be transported to your choice of plantations.
You have the option to visit either Laura Plantation of Oak Alley Plantation. Both are iconic, unique, and historic. Cajun Swamp Tours will drop you off at whichever plantation you choose and pick you up after your tour.
Laura Plantation is a restored creole plantation that was built in 1805.
Formerly known as Duparc Plantation, this particular plantation is significant for its early 19th-centiry Creole-style raised big house and several surviving buildings. It’s one of only 15 plantations in Louisiana with this many surviving original structures.
Oak Alley might just be the most iconic plantation in all of Louisiana.
Built in 1837, Oak Alley is named for its famous double row of ancient oak trees that lead visitors to the plantation. Fun fact: the oak trees were actually planted long before the plantation was ever built.
Once your plantation tour has completed, the tour bus will scoop you up and drop you back off at their home base. They also offer shuttle service to and from hotels in New Orleans, which is very helpful if you have out of town guests with no other mode of transportation.
