It's festival season! That wonderful time of year when there's a festival kicking off every other weekend. Head on over to the sleepy little town of Ponchatoula next weekend for some amazing fun all while celebrating the official state fruit of Louisiana — the strawberry.
The Strawberry Festival returns for its 47th year next week and you’re not going to want to miss it.
Louisiana’s largest free festival takes place April 13-15, so clear your calendars!
The festival began in 1971 by a small group of local citizens.
What began on a single side street in the sleepy town of Ponchatoula has grown into a 3-day event that hosts more than 350,000 visitors.
This 3-day event is jam-packed with entertainment.
You'll encounter live entertainment across two stages, multiple local vendors, a parade, races, a beautify pageant, the list goes on and on.
There will be tons of strawberry treats, drinks, and traditional fair food to enjoy.
All the strawberries you can eat!
And like any great festival, there will be more than 50 carnival rides for the thrill-seekers.
There is also a one-mile fun run and a 10k race you can sign up for.
Visitors can also take part in the many games and contests throughout the festival.
Strawberry eating contests, egg tosses, sack races, and more await.
The festival takes place at Memorial Park in Ponchatoula, April 13-15.
The address is 301 N 6th St., Ponchatoula, LA 70454.
