If you are looking for something amazing to do next weekend, check out the Red Dress Run in New Orleans. It's a completely unique event that will absolutely make your weekend spectacular. It's hosted by the Hash House Harriers, as they like to say, a "drinking club with a running problem".
Did you realize that the Red Dress Run in New Orleans is happening this Saturday?
It takes place every 2nd Saturday in August, and is truly a whirlwind each and every year.
The run is hosted by the local chapter of the Hash House Harriers, which is a national running club.
Of course in New Orleans, they do things a little differently. The Red Dress run hosted here is by far the largest in the United States, and has raised over one million dollars over the years to donate to local charities.
To participate in the run, visit NOLARedDress.com. There you can sign up to have an official sticker as well as enjoy food, beer, and music after the run through downtown New Orleans.
And then of course, it's time to go shopping for a red dress. If you don't already have one, you'll want to get started on the hunt ASAP--they will all be gone by the time you look at the end of this week.
One of the changes this year is that the big event will culminate at Crescent Park.
They have a variety of bands playing, including the Brass-A-Holics and Remedy. And for every person that registers, a donation is made to one of New Orleans' best charities.
But of course one of the most exciting things is being out in the quarter and seeing so many people running in red dresses.
Truly a sea of red--and a showcase of all the unique and diverse people that call New Orleans home.
After all of that running around, you are definitely going to want to finish the day with a great meal.
These ladies got it right, ordering up a hamburger from Camellia Grill before the end of the day.
