If you're on the hunt for things to do in Monroe, Louisiana, consider spending a day at the Biedenharn Museum and Gardens. This unique museum boasts multiple exhibits ranging from Coke bottles to Bibles, and the English garden is simply breathtaking. Whether you're on a solo adventure or you've got the entire family in the car, this is one attraction everyone will enjoy.
The Biedenharn Museum and Gardens was built in 1913 and was originally the home of Joseph A. Biedenharn, who is known for being the first person to bottle Coca-Cola.
Revolutionizing the cola industry one bottle at a time, he came up with the idea while living in Vicksburg in 1984.
Today, the attraction has four exhibits: his home, a Coca-Cola museum, a Bible museum, and the cherished botanical gardens.
Biedenharn's daughter, Emy-Lou Biedenharn collected Bibles and many of them, including an original 1611 King James Bible are on display.
ELsong Gardens, named after Biedenharn’s daughter, are absolutely breathtaking.
As you stroll through the walled English garden, you’ll notice three different themed areas: the Four Seasons Garden, an Oriental Garden, and a musical grotto.
The garden is home to several thousand flowering plants, and with Louisiana’s mild temperatures, there’s always something in bloom.
Visitors can choose to visit the entire space or just check out the gardens.
If you choose the whole package, you can experience the historic home, the Coca-Cola museum, and the Bible museum.
Don't forget to get a Coke from an authentic five-cent vending machine!
