It’s that special time of year when streets are lined with holiday decorations, and everything is illuminated so perfectly, it just instantly puts you in a better mood. There’s one incredible display that’s one of the best holiday light displays in Louisiana, maybe even the country, and you’re not going to want to miss it! The Natchitoches Christmas Festival has been the traditional way of celebrating Christmas in Natchitoches for countless families since 1927. We'd like to show you why we love it so much and invite you to experience it in all its spectacular glory for yourself!
Natchitoches is located approximately 77 miles south of Shreveport.
And every year, downtown Natchitoches turns into a wintry wonderland that’s nothing short of spectacular.
The festival has been going on since 1927. This year it runs from November 18, 2023 until January 6, 2024.
The six-week-long celebration is one of the oldest community-based holiday celebrations in the country.
It is also easily one of the most beautiful and there are so many different things (and special guests) to enjoy!
More than 300,000 lights perfectly illuminate downtown Natchitoches...
... with more than 100 set pieces peppering the banks of the Cane River.
There will be food vendors and great live music too!
And if you know anything about Louisiana you know it will be rockin'!
Many of the shops in town have extended hours during the festival.
So that allows you to pick up some wonderful holiday gifts for your loved ones.
There are several special events that take place throughout the festival.
This includees a boat parade, a tour of homes, and more.
And every Saturday night, stick around for a dazzling fireworks display over the water.
There is no admission to enter the riverbank area Sunday through Friday, but on the weekends, you’ll need a $10 wristband to gain access.
Many people arrive just prior to dusk so they are in the perfect spot when those hundreds of thousands of holiday lights along the riverbank are switched on for all to see.
