Carnival Season is arguably the best season of the year. With Mardi Gras is only a few days away, and your weekends carved out for the endless marathon of parades, we thought we'd take a moment to shine a light on the things that all New Orleanians do during Mard Gras. How many have you done?
1. Eaten way more king cake than you should have
It’s ok, you walk a lot during the parade, right?
2. Argued with friends about who has the best king cake.
Are you team Dong Phuong, Randazzo’s, Gambino’s, Rouses, or somewhere else?
3. Left the knife in the king cake box.
That’s just where it lives until the box goes in the trash.
4. Made your own costume
And really went into great detail about its design.
5. Made the mistake of getting stuck in “The Box.”
It's worse when you live in the box.
6. Cheered on your alma mater when they came marching down
And danced like no one was watching.
7. Told everyone to save the cups so you can restock your supply
Let’s be honest, the cups are hands down the best throw.
8. Gotten to a parade hours before it starts to get a good spot.
Location, location, location.
9. Hoisted your child to the top of a ladder and stood behind it “for safety”
And made some very questionable reaches for throws while on top of said ladder.
10. Rekindled your friendships with anyone who lives on a route
Hey, bathroom access is important during Mardi Gras.
11. Briefly contemplated other uses for Mardi Gras beads
Can't let those beads go to waste! You've probably tapped into your creative side to think of any crafty DIY project you could use them for... before abandoning that project pretty quickly and throwing them in the attic with the others.
What else would you add to the list? Have you done them all? Let us know in the comments below!
