In the heart of New Orleans, you’ll find an antique gallery that’s arguably one of the finest in the country. M.S. Rau has a huge selection of fine art, antiques, and jewelry. This is not a shabby thrift store: to step into M.S. Rau is more like stepping into a fine arts museum. If you have the means, this is a place where you can find something very, very special. Here’s a look at what’s inside this special New Orleans gallery.

M.S. Rau is located on Royal Street in the French Quarter, a short walk from St. Louis Cathedral and around the corner from Preservation Hall.

The establishment has a very long history in New Orleans. It was founded in 1912 and it’s now in its third and fourth generation of ownership. It’s huge, with more than 30,000 square feet of gallery space. By sales it’s the largest business of its kind in North America.

If you are looking for fine porcelain, this place has services fit for royalty – some of it is worth more than a typical family home. Some of it is even has a royal lineage!

The art collection is incredible. If you love the work of artists like Claude Monet, John Singer Sargent you’re in the right place.

The antique selection is not too shabby either, with fine and one-of-a kind pieces from all over the world. If your desk needs a delicate and authentic Tiffany lamp, you can probably find one here.

If you are looking for an exquisite piece of designer jewelry or something with a very, very large stone – or both – make plans to explore M.S. Rau’s collection.

You don’t have to be a multi-millionaire to enjoy some of the fine works at M.S. Rau. It produces museum-quality exhibitions annually, both in its New Orleans gallery and at a number of art and antique fairs around the country. M.S. Rau is open Monday-Saturday, 9 a.m. - 5:15 p.m. If your budget can’t afford the fine works at the Rau but you want to do a little historic shopping, here’s another New Orleans business with a rich history.

Whether you're looking to add a unique piece to your home or trying to get a head start on holiday shopping, the Denham Springs Antique Village is the perfect place for a day of shopping. It may be a bit of a drive from the city, but there are so many shops and restaurants peppered along this charming little street, you could easily make an entire day out of it. Let's take a closer look.

The Denham Springs Antique Village is located on North Range Avenue in Denham Springs.

Between Centerville Street and Railroad Avenue.

Along this strip, you’ll find dozens of antique shops, art galleries, and restaurants.

Get there early so you have enough time to stroll the street and pop in and out of the stores.

For antique shopping, there’s no better place.

There are over 15 unique antique shops in the village. Whether you’re just window shopping or have a specific need, there’s something for everyone at this incredible Antique Village.

Be sure to stop off at The Heritage House, where you'll find over 6,000 square feet of shopping to explore.

Located at 208 North Range Avenue, the Heritage House is a two-story building that’s over 100 years old.

They’re constantly getting new inventory in, so there’s always something new to look at.

You’ll find glassware, silver, pottery and more at this unique antique shop.

Just a little bit further down the street is Theater Antiques, another amazing antique shop with a unique history.

You’ll find Theater Antiques just a few blocks down from The Heritage House. Their address is 228 North Range Avenue.

Theater Antiques is inside the old Denham Springs theater which was built in 1926.

Inside, you’ll find a multi-dealer antique shop with a wide array of items.

After popping in and out of shops all day, you're bound to work up an appetite.

Swing by Taste of Louisiana for a delicious meal.

TOLA is a family-owned and operated restaurant where you’ll find some of the best home cooking in Livingston Parish.

The menu is full of Louisiana staples like po’boys and gumbo as well as American fare like burgers, salads, and more.
