As we slowly creep into fall, you can start to count on festivals taking up your weekends. This particular festival is happening this weekend, and it's absolutely worth the drive! Kids and adults of all ages will have a blast checking out all of the hot air balloons. Let's take a closer look.
The 2018 Ascension Hot Air Balloon Festival takes place September 21-22 in Gonzales.
The festival takes place at the Lamar Dixon Expo Center, which is located at 9039 S St Landry Ave, Gonzales, Louisiana 70737.
The two day festival is jam packed with kid-friendly activities, food from local vendors, hot air balloons, and more.
The gates will open at 4pm on Friday, September 21. Admission is $6.00 per person, and kids 8 and under are free. Bring the family for a fun-filled day they won’t soon forget!
The Children’s Village will feature face painting, a party train, a petting zoo, a mini ferris wheel, and a magic show.
Kids of all ages are going to have a blast here.
In addition to live music on both days, you can count on some amazing local food vendors to come out selling their delicious dishes.
All of your favorite restaurants come out to celebrate this unique festival, so be sure to come hungry!
At 6am on Saturday, September 22, look towards the sky as the hot air balloons will take flight around the parish.

The gates will open at 11am on Saturday.
As long as the weather permits, you’ll be able to take a tethered balloon ride! You won’t want to miss out on this one in a lifetime opportunity.
Stick around until sunset for the hot air balloon glow.

At 10pm, a truly dazzling fireworks show will close out the festival.
There will be a fireworks display on both nights of the festival, starting at 10pm.
