Are you looking for a place where you can explore Louisiana history while soaking up some of the best nature Louisiana has to offer? Consider a trip to Fairview-Riverside State Park, a place where you can enjoy all of the beautiful scenery and wildlife Louisiana has to offer while also touring the Otis House.
This state park is found in Madisonville, Louisiana.
The address is 119 Fairview Dr., and it stretches over 98 acres.
The park is found right on the Tchefuncte River, which is known for awesome fishing and boating opportunities.
Paddling down this river is really special.
And of course there are some amazing trees here. This special oak tree on the river bed has grown in such a creative way.
I really don't know how they end up growing like that!
But something that makes this state park really special is that it is home to the Otis House.
The Otis House is a Louisiana state historical site that is listed on the National Register of historic places.
While visiting the park, you can get a tour of this historic home and learn about the people who lived there in the early 20th-century.
The home was owned by William Theodore Jay, who owned a sawmill nearby.
After taking a tour of the home, you can enjoy the incredible wildlife in the park.
Yep--you will probably see an alligator!
Or bring your boat along on your trip and you'll have the chance to explore the waters here...
We know you'll be entertained by it.
...and you might even get a glimpse at these adorable river otters who call the park home.
Is there anything cuter than that??
So if you're looking for a place that will wow your senses, immerse you in nature, and let you tour a historic home, plan a trip to the Fairview-Riverside park.
